Our 10 day tour offers you a fantastic introduction to flying in the Nepali Himalaya. Do not think that you have to be full on comp pilot to fly here. The truth is that almost any level of experience will see you equally enjoying the pilot friendly conditions that this unique subtropical climate provides.

+25 hours will see you thermalling easily in the company of the Himalayan Griffin Vultures. The months we fly mean that there are no valley or prevailing winds and the snow-clad giants are at their most pristine. Surprisingly, very little walking is done on these tours. Just a short walk each morning to take-off and then you let your wings do the work! The basic tour looks something like this:

You will be met at the airport and spend a night in Kathmandu before being flown to Pokhara aboard a Twin Otter STOL aircraft. The views of the mountains during the flight are incredible. The beautiful lakeside town of Pokhara, nestled at the foot of the Annapurna massif, is dwarfed by 3 of the highest mountains in the world.

Image Here we will introduce you to the Himalaya with a few days flying spectacular sites around the valley and lake. From Pokhara we set off on a 5 day paratrek with Sherpas to carry our equipment, set-up camp and cook us some amazing food. So all you have to do is relax and think of flying these incredible mountains. After dinner in the mass tent, it is normal for the entire village to come and welcome us in the traditional way, with a night of singing and dancing, under the stars and around the camp fire. A fantastic way to end a day's flying.

On the way back to Kathmandu, we stop at Bandipur, a traditional Newari village, to fly another couple of days. This site offers a great flying experience, with stunning views of the Manaslu Himal. It is a thermic dynamic site that allows for hours of easy flying but with an exciting sense of exposure as you soar 1000m above the valley floor. A great way to end the trip. The spectacular drive to the Kathmandu valley will leave a lasting impression. The remarkable receptions from local villages, the daily encounters with numerous species of vulture and eagle, to the sheer spectacle of the vast Himalaya, all add up to a unique flying experience.
